"Let the Sky Fall" by Shannon Messenger

Let the Sky Fall (Let the Sky Fall, #1)

"Seventeen-year-old Vane Weston has no idea how he survived the category five tornado that killed his parents. And he has no idea if the beautiful, dark-haired girl who’s swept through his dreams every night since the storm is real. But he hopes she is.

Seventeen-year-old Audra is a sylph, an air elemental. She walks on the wind, can translate its alluring songs, and can even coax it into a weapon with a simple string of commands. She’s also a guardian—Vane’s guardian—and has sworn an oath to protect Vane at all costs. Even if it means sacrificing her own life.

When a hasty mistake reveals their location to the enemy who murdered both of their families, Audra’s forced to help Vane remember who he is. He has a power to claim—the secret language of the West Wind, which only he can understand. But unlocking his heritage will also unlock the memory Audra needs him to forget. And their greatest danger is not the warriors coming to destroy them—but the forbidden romance that’s grown between them."

Let the Sky Fall is the first book of its type that I have ever read, and I must say that I am really impressed. What an original story line!

The book is centered around Vane Weston, and his never-ending streak of bad luck when it comes to girls. (Or is it really?) Followed by his dreams of a mysterious girl with black hair thats being whipped all around her by the wind. Why is she haunting his dreams? Who is she?

Then there's Audra, a Sylph, an air elemental. Absolutely 100% NOT human. After an accidental show of power that led enemies straight to them, both her and Vane's families were killed. She has sworn since then that she would protect Vane, no matter the consequences, no matter what happened, she would guard him with her life. If it ever came down to that.

When another "accident" happens, Audra and Vane find themselves in the middle of yet another war, fighting for their lives, well, trying to. If only Audra can get Vane to remember the pieces of the past that were hidden from him a long time ago, albeit she's afraid. Afraid that he'll remember the one memory that she never wants him to remember.

The sparks between both characters couldn't be clearer, but Audra knows that it is forbidden.
Will she be able to fight the desire that threatens to consume them both? Will she be able to make him remember before it's too late?

Find out by picking the book up for yourself!

The book ended with a major cliffhanger, which left me stunned. What!? WHY!

FOUR STARS! I cannot wait to see what Ms. Messenger has in store for next book in this series.
